I love waking up in the morning, knowing my day will be filled with reading. It may be helping authors share their stories, proofreading students’ essays, or soaking in a fun novel or new Bible study. My mother would say my first words as a child were not “mom” and “dad” but “noun” and “verb.” From as early as I can remember, I wanted to be an English teacher. I loved diagramming sentences and crafting stories, and with my Type A personality, I liked structure.

I studied English and French in college and then became a reading specialist. I dreamed of teaching English overseas and sharing the Lord with my students. Wherever I’ve lived around the world, the Lord always found a place for me to teach. When I met Rachel Porter in 2008, I knew I found my “kindred spirit,” and I give credit to Rachel for my knowledge of technology, the most current formatting styles, and how to balance my love for students with my passion for excellence.

I live in Ohio, but home is wherever my children are. My husband and I spend a lot of time in Indiana visiting them at their rival universities. When not reading, I’m on the trails, hiking or running, soaking in God’s beauty.

My favorite verses are Psalm 96:11–12: “Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy” (NIV).
