Janet McLendon

While attending a folk dance camp in the summer of 2023 in Murray, Kentucky, I discovered to my amazement that my friend Rachel was presenting at a Southern gospel music conference . . . in the same building! What are the odds that two former English teacher friends who both live in Cincinnati would end up the same week in the same building on the Tennessee side of our neighboring state? God is the one who set up that situation! Seeing the CED logo got me asking Rachel about working with the crew that she got so excited telling me all about. The staff, projects, and clients are all a source of blessing to me, and I’m excited to have the chance to bless others by helping them tell an authentic story or craft that perfect paragraph.

My path here has been as winding as the south Georgia dirt roads where I call home. I’ve taught in California and Ohio, earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in English, homeschooled my boys, and built a business as an academic coach and writing tutor. Working as a writing coach for clients at every age and ability level has given me the experience to offer whatever encouragement or text-scaffolding is appropriate to get to text on the page. Taking that text to the next level is a joyful endeavor as I work as an editor and proofreader with the CED team.

I've had the wild ride of being a boy mama, but my three wonderful sons are all “grown and flown” now, with two in Cincinnati and one in Nashville with his lovely wife. I love serving at church, making new friends, and singing hymns. Every single day, I remember and take to heart the words of Psalm 126:3 that “The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy” (NIV).
